About Today's Show
Lexi and I took an early morning hike up to a recent shooting point for the television show Lost. Why? Because we had a guest director who actually works as "A.D." on the show itself! Kris Krengel is her name and she is an ebullient lover of life. Oh, and paddling the outrigger too, which is how we met last year.
We filmed right where Hurley's friend Dave hurled himself off the cliff a few weeks back. And on our way down, met the Gizio-Peterkin family. (Apologies if I butchered your name!) They're here for a week and committed to doing a hike a day, ending with the famed Haiku Stairs. Now, that would make a great show!
Update: If you love Lost (the tv show) you'll want to check out my friends' blog/podcast, The Transmission with Ryan and Jen Ozawa. It's no ka oi for Lost fans.
Wandering is a good thing.
If you've got some time on your hands, vote for our show using the links in the right column!
Tip: If you leave a message on the conch, please speak up so we can hear you! It's noisy out there by the wind and waves.
Theme music is Kaimoku: The Ukulele Experiment
Hawaiian words
Makapuʻu: hill point
Lilo: lost
ʻAuana: wander

Loved the subject, "Lost? No, just wandering" tie-in with "Lost" and Kris' direction.
Also really enjoyed the different 'sections' of the show, the flower, the family, the end with Kris.
Great job!!

Being a huge Lost fan it was a real treat to see an actual Lost AD as your friend and guest "director" today. Thanks for that. I'm really looking forward to the rest of this season. Also from following the link to the Haiku Stairs, it looks like they are currently closed to the public. I hope the people you met are able to still enjoy a part of that hike if not all of it

Haiku Stairs have been "closed to the public" for quite some time as the neighbors and the hikers and the state battle it out over access. Numerous improvements have been made and it is not uncommon to see people on the trail.

Extra nice video today. Now that that's out of the way... Come on, tell us what she really told you about the last three episodes of Lost!

I loved your blog today! It was nice to hear my own thoughts resonating from someone else. There is still pressure to have a clear cut path and to remain unwavering, and that shifting from that path is a form of failure or weakness. I enjoy not having my life set in tablets of stone.. sometimes i'm exploring, but most of the time I genuinely enjoy what i'm doing, but dont feel the need to tie myself to it. i enjoy it for what it is and then when it's done, its done. New things.

I was obviously tied last night, and I forgot to include a link to Hawaii's very own, and my good friends Ryan and Jen's "Transmission" blog/podcast. I've added it to the show notes with apologies.

Thanks for sharing these thoughts. A wandering path is so often not validated in our society. I find myself following a path that leads me to the most unlikely places. When you are built this way it can often feel as if you are walking through life blindfolded. I truly appreciate your posts.
