I am really enjoying these more community-oriented shows lately! It's so fun to meet some of the viewers. The impromptu survey was icing on the cake.

Rox, are you a member of Toastmasters? I've heard many good things about that organization and was thinking about joining it after I move.

what a fun and spontaneous show! Being new to HI, I also sort of think about 'what's the best part of this experience' and my answers would be the same as theirs.. but also would add seeing the Pali everyday and how it catches the light and the clouds is magical.

Ahh! Windsor! I lived in the Detroit area at one time. A a kid we used to go over the Ambassador bridge over into Windsor and beyond every so often.

Ever been up to Tobomory? As a junior in high school and as a young guy in my early twenties, I hike a section of the "Bruce Trail" up there.
----------
Speaking of the Iao valley... my wife and I got to this memorial park before getting to the big park and I saw a water fall. I said, "Look dear, our first waterfall!" Turns out That waterfall was a man-made one like you see them install on HGTV!
When I found that out I just had to have a good laugh! :)
-----------
Rox, there is this nature museum near the park where they give walking tours that is in part of the Iao valley that is not officially part of the park. The air is thick with skeeters and you definitely need bug repellant. I must say though that this was really the only place we ever needed to use any. :)

thats right Orville....we can't swim at night back home in Windsor Ontario due to the mosquitoes...everyone needs repellants, propane zappers and such just to stay out.........so in retrospect.........you don't have mosquitoes in Oahu

@Orville,
yes there are mosquitoes on every island ... you have to remember that the visitors are from Canada and Minnesota - where the size of mosquitoes is legendary ... so to have the type they are speaking of in Hawaii, where the buzzing is more of a bother than the bug itself, it is heaven to them all.
I could not sleep if I heard the buzzing of a mosquito when I was younger - a few nights in the wilds of North Carolina, Okinawa, Philippines, Thailand, and Guam eliminated that problem...
( grin )

Until that time. . . Earl J.

Re: Mosquitos. Oahu does not have very many. Rarely, we get a few if the trade winds stop blowing and it has been raining recently. But mostly, no problem and I would say never at the beach.

I love hiking in the Iao Valley, and I don't recall mosquitos...might have to go do some research on that again. :-)

Fun! The ARE mosquitos in the Iao valley on Maui. Lots of them. :(

Is it really true that there are no mosquitos on Owahu? That would be cool.

Great energy and FUN seeing fellow Reefers -- what a wonderful start to my day, as well! Good point from Glynda that it ties in with Rox's earlier comment how the simple can be profound. Make it a simple day, everyone!!!

This really went along with how simple can sometimes be profound. Also, how the universe can provide what you need when you need it. It's 6:20am and was looking to be a sad one for me today. Within seconds a small grin grew to a full ear to ear smile. Thanks, I so needed that.
