I just love how many cool tools are available now as compared to when we started Beachwalks way back in 2006! This is a little venture into avante garde film-making, as the camera perspective and what you see on screen is a bit unusual. No talking, just walking and some gorgeous waves here to wash away whatever shadows may be dogging any of us. On a side note, I had the most fun interview ever with Dave Moyer and Kym Huynh of Wordcast Conversations and they got me all energized to post a new episode! I'll post the link to it when it goes live.

I am actually in New York as I write this, and it gave me so much pleasure to be immersed in some archive files and music I found when putting this episode together. If you've been to Hawaii you've likely heard this style of music either on the radio or while sipping mai tai's at the beach watching the sunset. Or maybe as you view Kanoe Miller dance the hula at the Halekulani Hotel. It conveys so beautifully the feeling of those swaying palm trees; I just love it.

I also want to dedicate this to Tommy Sea, who is finally selling his house in Michigan and will be Hawaii-bound very soon. It's been a long haul for him, and he certainly understands Aloha. If you liked this, please purchase the song; info immediately below.

It was raining today and I didn't sleep well this weekend, so rather than rough it in the elements, I chose to stay in and create a meditation for all of us. I cannot stop watching this episode! It was shot by moi, on the little Sanyo Xacti, there are water drops on the lens, it is a little over-exposed and a lot shaky, and of course I wanted more shots. But there was magic on the beach with Lexi this day. Then I heard this beautiful song on Dave's Lounge #106 and I had to put these ingredients together. Sometimes the energy is so much more than the technique - this is true for me, today.

This episode is dedicated to each of you loyal viewers, who so generously receive whatever we share, who shower us with love and affection, who even travel all the way from Canada (and soon from the UK I hope) and share some of your precious vacation time with us.

I don't know how to thank the Shanghai Restoration Project featuring Di Johnston for this beautiful song. I already purchased two copies of the album on iTunes. As for Dave, I have listened to his podcast from the first episode, and he stands in rare company to have been so focused from the start, and he only gets better.

Heavy rains came in today so we are sharing some footage from this past Saturday. Every winter the boobies come to town and take up fishing at the south end of Lanikai Beach. I can sit and watch them for long periods of time; birds seem to hold an aspect of freedom that I find so appealing. If we keep this up, we might have to join forces with The Animal Planet!

I learned about lumiere style from my friend in London, Rupert Howe. (Though Andreas in Denmark probably gets credit for nudging our group of videobloggers in this direction.) I've been wanting to make one, and then this week at the beach as it was nearing sunset, I just grabbed out little Sanyo Xacti waterproof movie camera, and grabbed a clip of Shane and Lexi. Amazing IMO. Unscripted, and unplanned, but notice how psychic and scene-stealing our little pup is! I am also submitting it to the Semanal group, folks who are making one video a week for 2008. You can still join us anytime!

UPDATE: I have been informed of a central site on the web that has over 500 Lumiere's collected since 2007. It is a rich archive and if you like this art form, please go and explore. Turns out I felt a little self-conscious on the crowded beach in Florida and with the sun in my eyes, could not see the little camera screen either, so this is a no-talkie episode. I was thinking about that saying, "Silence is golden" anyway, and will just keep it for another day. I recorded a voice over, but the energy just felt funky; I hope you enjoy the waves, a sight and sound that so far I have not tired of.
