A few weeks ago I talked about updating the database. And there is a tricky second aspect of that. If you are updating an old version of the database, then you miss out on stuff! This happens, sadly, all the time when more than one person has access to a master database. They work "locally, make a bunch of changes, and everything looks cool. But if they don't connect and send their updates to the main source, then everyone else who uses it is missing something. Or sometimes the db gets moved, and you didn't know, so you are syncing with an old version.

Each of us is also an author of the master database - in addition to noticing others' changes we get to add our own! Voila - we end up with being able to "create our own reality."

I cannot stop watching this episode! It was shot by moi, on the little Sanyo Xacti, there are water drops on the lens, it is a little over-exposed and a lot shaky, and of course I wanted more shots. But there was magic on the beach with Lexi this day. Then I heard this beautiful song on Dave's Lounge #106 and I had to put these ingredients together. Sometimes the energy is so much more than the technique - this is true for me, today.

This episode is dedicated to each of you loyal viewers, who so generously receive whatever we share, who shower us with love and affection, who even travel all the way from Canada (and soon from the UK I hope) and share some of your precious vacation time with us.

I don't know how to thank the Shanghai Restoration Project featuring Di Johnston for this beautiful song. One of the things that stresses me out is all the tasks I collect - business, personal, household, long-range, short-range, recurring and not. Shane, aka Secret Cameraman, recently taught me a method, that so far, I am really liking. I am starting off simple - using a white board and some strategy. If I master this, I will move to the software version. It focuses on collecting everything, but then each day starting fresh with just the things "for today." It supports that "Be here now" philosophy I love so much, and makes mole hills out of mountains. The psychological benefits are delightful.

Just about every weekend I have this dilemma at least one of the two mornings: get up early and do a bunch of things I want to do or stay in bed, read and "do nothing." Both are very appealing, and I find myself going through all sorts of contortions trying to decide, then trying to be comfortable with my decision.

It dawned on me that this pressure associated with choice, often drives a range of forced rationalizing and attempted formulas, when in reality, it just doesn't matter. No reasons required. Just be here now.

Wow what an amazing day, and all because we could not get to the beach this morning! Continuous business interruptions, and it was nearly 2 pm before we could get out. On the way, I was realized how futile it has been to try to schedule a recurring time when we know we can slip away for an hour a day. I wish my life were more even and predictable aka structured many days. And then I became aware of my other attraction to being in the flow, letting life come to me as is. What a contradiction those two felt like for me today!

It was raining when we left the house this morning, but at the beach it was sunshining. I realized that the rain irritates me on days when I want to go to the beach and film Beach Walks - it becomes very difficult because of the camera and the gear. As it turns out, the only thing I had to deal with was my resistance to accepting the cycle of the rain. Then I had this "aha" moment - that by accepting what is I don't lose power, but rather I gain it. It seems wimpy to accept instead of fighting back. But really - how do I fight back with the weather?? I suppose I could be a mad scientist devoted to manipulating nature, but really, I am more interested in learning how to bloom where I am planted, to be creative in the midst of limitations, to be powerful in the moment of accepting what is.

I find it just as easy and tempting to stay stuck in the past with business relationships as I do in personal ones. But I was feeling satisfied with an email I wrote to a client this morning, and thought I would bring that even more into awareness, by talking about it here. On a side note, you can see from Shane's beautiful pan at the end - the silvery volcanic ash-vog to the south and the clear beauty towards the north. What a switch from yesterday!

Shane and I are going to the mainland and my loving sister Barbara has arrived to care for our darling Lexi. Both girls are happy about that and it would appear Barbara also brought some amazing weather with her - the scenery today is absolutely stunning! This morning we were talking about buttons - the kind that trigger confusion and reactions in each other. I may want the other person to stop pushing, but in reality, the button resides with me. Barbara has a tip for getting a grip on the experience of "stop pushing my buttons!"

W00t! The sun is out! Praise be to the weather. Let's face it: kind words and genuine praise just feel good. It is all too common when talented people take on a type of snobbery, as if they have earned some form of superiority. I much prefer to give my business to people who are competent and friendly, like the people I have recently discovered at J Salon. It is a good reminder to me as I myself can sometimes fall into the snob mode too. I talked about in Bitterness or Bliss.

So I have been inwardly cranky about a lot of things the past few weeks - the winter weather, my cold, the fatigue...it just felt like a lot of things in life were not cooperating with me!
