It's been a long time since we've been out on the water together. Our friends Eric, Stacey, and Kaile got a new 4-man outrigger canoe. Shane, Eric, and I took it out - saving a seat for you! I have missed being on the water, and hope you enjoy this episode - oh so Hawaii.

Huli means to roll over in Hawaiian, and though we caught several awesome waves, we also caught a 360! It was a great day, made better in my memory by the amazing song, "The Ocean" by Barefoot Truth. We watched an episode of The Iconoclasts last night with surfer Laird Hamilton and Pearl Jam singer Eddie Vedder. Both are celebrities of course, and they also are living their true natures, deeply and truly. What if permission isn't required to be yourself? What if the part of us we think is the broken or odd part is actually the truest part? Food for thought for Monday.

Rainy again today so it was a late run to the beach, as the tide was high and there was a big swell in town! Lots of people out surfing at Flat Island in the distance (wish I were there!) and it was a great segue for a blog post I read this morning from my friend Richard Noll, I am and therefore I can. I mis-remembered the quote in the episode, but hey! That is what show notes are for. And actually, I like both iterations of the thought - I find them both liberating and supportive of trying new things, getting out of the box.

This Beach Walks replay debuted in August 2006. "There was an awesome swell in town, so I decided to grab some surf footage. And I couldn't stop until the light faded and the sea mist fogged my lens. The water was filled with people playing in the waves with all kinds of fun toys!"

Show highlights: Outrigger canoes catching waves (Lanikai and Kailua); stand-up paddling surfer; Anissa, Dave, Johnnie, and Temujin; Lexi hunting for a Snickers bar for Johnnie.

If you follow the comments on Beach Walks or have joined us over on The Reef (our social network) then you've no doubt come across "Bob from Canada." For the month of February, he is "Bob from Hawaii" and is joined by his charming wife Susan. We met for a sunset walk at Magic Island, followed by dinner and "dessert" at a live Mighty J concert. That fulfills my definition of "Life is Good!" We talk about Bob and Susan's trip to the big waves on the north shore and when (and when not) to get a car in Waikiki.
